Originally trained as a landscape architect, I hold a Master's degree in Natural Resource Management and currently pursue a degree in Ecology. Having worked for several years in science and academia, and then having switched into the "manual labor" part of urban forestry (as a climbing arborist), I have witnessed the huge gap that exists between theory and practice, between best practice and what actually happens every day in the urban trees.
